Two hours is the amount of time we budget for the actual painting but do require an additional hour on each end for set up and tear down ( 30 min is usually sufficient at the end ).

The event starts with a brief demonstration of some basic painting techniques and quickly continues into the first steps required based on the image chosen.

Every 30 minutes the demo painting is continued which helps participants keep pace for an on-time completion.

Based on the size of the group there could be one instructor with up to 5 assistants all eager to help struggling participants. All Art Factory facilitators move from person to person throughout the duration assisting everyone and anyone who needs it.

Although many events do have food there is usually little room left on the table for it so a break half way through is advised ( plus we’ll be taking one any way as there is usually a dry-ing period before a second layer is applied ). Soft drinks and small refreshments are great to have at any time.

We travel to you be it at a conference centre, hotel/restaurant or your own office.
We can accommodate up to 40 painters working at once ( or 80 people if you double that while working in teams- ask about a 30% discount if this is a consideration ).
We can host your event out of our downtown HQ but specialize in traveling around the GTA for your convenience. Anywhere within 20 miles ( 32 km ) is without charge, beyond that there is an additional cost of $45/hour for a group of 15 or less, that price increases if assistants are required for a larger party.
Although the Art Factory specializes in facilitating events at different locations, for the convenience of our clients we do have a studio setting available for groups up to 20, should you prefer to have your event off-site ( extra fee may apply ).
The benefit to the team building projects is that everyone participates in creating a work of art that is permanently installed in your shared home or office. The solo painting classes allow everyone to leave with something of their own for their home or work station.
Our team building exercise:

1.Permanent reminder of the event.

2. A physical metaphor: team member’s place in the “bigger picture”.

3. Spruce up the office with new colours.

4.No talent needed! Guaranteed results.

NOPE! When was the last time you picked up a brush? 10 years ago? 20? We’ve built the team projects around painting over laminated photocopies so the drawing portion of the project is already taken care of.
Complicated images are broken down into simple shapes like a construction paper cut-out. All your team has to do to create the finished work is paint between the lines based on personalized colour handouts that all participants receive. ( Plus our team of instructors and assistants are always willing to step in and help out –> we won’t tell!).
Not only is all the paint we have acrylic and so water soluble and rinses off ( before it dries) but we have drop sheet s for the floors, table clothes and aprons for everyone.
After the team building project is finished the canvases latch together with velcro and stick to the wall with double sided tape all available on request. Also available on request and for an additional fee is having one of our instructors come to your office and install the work for you.
Because we’re painting over portions of a large photocopy the quality of the finished work is going to be far superior to what amateurs can accomplish in two hours.

We even simplify complicated photos into “paint-by-number” or “cut-out” stylized images for added ease.

Plus, another option is to leave your work behind to be “touched up” by one of our artists.

Larger events are hosted by Eric Budovitch, an art teacher with 10 years working in the Toronto area. With larger events additional assistants are brought in to facilitate the extra demand. You can learn more about all the talented artists who work with the Art Factory on our ABOUT page.
You might have only 4 people with whom you wish to centre the activity around and that’s fine! However our events start at $450 which can be for 10 people or for 4, your choice!

The Process

FIRST STEPS

  • 01

An ideal break any time of day.  Especially popular as a re-charge activity after lunch or early afternoon and before the next round of meetings!  So decide on the best time for your group and we’ll schedule you in!

  • 02

Count up the participants.  We can handle up to 80 people at a time or double that number if everyone teams up to share a work station.

  • 03

As a mobile entertainment company we travel to you inside a 20 mile radius of the downtown core.  Additional travel time is billed as working hours.

  • 04

Choosing your image should be an early thought.  What inspires you?  Wild animals?  Symbols of success?  Maybe something light hearted?  The choice is yours!

CONFIRMING THE DETAILS

  • 01

We need to know a week prior what your final head count is to start preparing for the big day!

  • 02

By now you should have chosen where you want your new work of art to hang in the office.  Take measurements…these projects can get huge!

  • 03

The initial deposit was made when booking to confirm the date.  One week before the event the final instalment is due.

The big day

  • 01

Participants are broken into teams or individually seated at their own easel and canvas where they “suit-up” with the supplied apron or lab coat.

  • 02

Each person’s canvas has laminated on to it an enlarged, black and white photocopy of their section of the bigger picture. A full colour version is attached as a reference.

  • 03

A full palette of paints and brushes are handed out at which point everyone naturally reverts to their inner child waiting to start!

  • 04

Guided by a trained instructor, participants progress through their painting one step at a time .

Putting it all together

  • 01

Each canvas is labeled for easy construction after they’re painted.  Just like everyone has a role in the company, so does each canvas have a place in the larger picture.

  • 02

Using push pins and wire, the final image is assembled for everyone to immediately see and photograph; taking pride in their contribution to the working environment.

  • 03

Installation on the office wall can be added for a small fee.  A large memento reminding eveyrone how interconnected each co-worker is?  Priceless.

  • 04

Each canvas is labeled for easy re-construction at your office.  Just like everyone has a role in the company, so does each canvas have a place in the larger picture.
